Profile

Marie commenced as a member of the School of Nursing & Midwifery in February 2008 as a Clinical Lecturer for Year 3 Nursing students and took on the role of Year 3 Courses Coordinator in that same year. Marie also became the Year 3 Clinical Coordinator for both the Nursing and Midwifery programs in September 2008. In 2009 Marie will not only be the Coordinator and Clinical Lecturer for the Year 3 Nursing student but also for the Year 1 Dual Nursing/Midwifery students.

Marie has been an active member of the nursing profession in a number of community and hospital settings for over two decades. She has practiced in maternity, acute & chronic paediatric wards, early parenting centres and community child health settings. Marie continues to practice as a Child Health Nurse on a casual basis.

Marie holds a Master of Nursing (Paediatric, Child and Youth Health Nursing) with both acute and community strands.

Following the successful application to the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation's Research Skills Development Scholarship for Nurses (2006), Marie is completing a Master of Applied Science (Research). This research has facilitated her enthusiasm for evidenced-based practice, paediatrics, child health and breastfeeding. Marie continues to be involved in research at the Royal Children’s Hospital with a grant being received to evaluate the outcome of Breastfeeding Education following her initial research.
