The School of Nursing and Midwifery offers a number of pathways into nursing – through three year undergraduate degrees, two year graduate entry programs for those who have already completed a degree.

Lead by our Head of School, our academic and clinical staff are renowned leaders in their fields, with many known and highly regarded internationally.

Employment opportunities for graduate nurses and midwives are very good. Our graduates have established an excellent track record for gaining full-time employment straight after completing their program. With a high clinical based content, our programs are very well respected by employers both within Queensland, across Australia and internationally. Graduates are eligible to apply for registration as a nurse or midwife through the Australian Health Practitioners Regulations Agency (AHPRA).

The University of Queensland, School of Nursing and Midwifery is the only nursing and midwifery program to offer intensive clinical learning to undergraduate students. Students are exposed to a course of learning based on integrated problem solving. This means students are exposed to the hospital environment from the earliest stages of their degree. Students are able to nominate a preference for a clinical school where they will be based three days per week and taught in small groups.

Whether you are a student, a staff member, a clinical partner or one of our Alumni you are a critical part of our nursing and midwifery community. Tell us what you think and help us be the best Nursing and Midwifery School in Australia.
